{"id":17387,"date":"2022-10-26T20:40:17","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T20:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artjournal.collegeart.org\/?page_id=17387"},"modified":"2022-10-27T13:20:40","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T13:20:40","slug":"mission-statement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/artjournal.collegeart.org\/?page_id=17387","title":{"rendered":"Mission Statement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The mission of\u00a0<em>Art Journal Open<\/em>\u00a0(<em>AJO<\/em>)<\/strong>\u00a0is to provide an open-access digital journal for the visual arts, which presents artists\u2019 projects, conversations and interviews, scholarly essays, and other forms of content from across the cultural field; to foster intellectual exchange through original work by artists, scholars, teachers, archivists, curators, critics, and other cultural producers and commentators;\u202f to engage critically with twentieth- and twenty-first-century art and art history in national and global frameworks;\u00a0and\u00a0to prioritize material that makes meaningful use of its open-access, digital platform by employing multimedia formats and techniques.\u00a0<em>AJO<\/em>\u2019s open access engages a wide\u00a0audience\u00a0in North America and globally.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Art&nbsp;Journal<\/em>&nbsp;and<em>&nbsp;A<\/em><em>rt&nbsp;Journal&nbsp;Open<\/em>&nbsp;commit to representation across race, gender, sexuality, disability, and other meaningful forms of experience in our content, our membership as a board, and our appointment of editors as well as to the inclusion of a wide range of approaches, methods, and subfields of modern and contemporary art history and art practice.
