Text-Based Project Proposal Guidelines

All texts should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words in length, including notes. Proposals for text-based works must be submitted as a single Microsoft Word file that does not exceed 10 MB and uses double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font.

Completed proposals must include:

  • A cover page including the authors’ names, a 60-word biographical statement for each, postal and email addresses, (mobile) telephone numbers, and the entire submission’s word count (including notes and captions)
  • A second page that lists the title and a 250-word abstract of the proposed piece (Note: Unless the submission is intended for the Conversations category, this page should not mention the authors’ names in case the proposal advances to peer review)
  • The full text, including in-text illustration thumbnails (Note: Unless the submission is intended for the Conversations category, these pages should not mention the authors’ names)
  • An illustration list, including full captions, image descriptions, and notes on permission sources
